My table is always messy. Setting the table often involved moving things out of the way. Memories of yesterday, remnants of today, and plans for tomorrow all scattered on our long wooden table. I indulge in images of perfectly manicured parents and kids in pristine surroundings like everyone else but when it comes to my own life a little messy just comes with the territory.
For some of us mess is just part of the creative process. It is the product of having a lot to do but valuing your rest. Maybe you let you kids go ham when they get really into something. As my son get older I have had to reign in to amount of mess I allow in order to work on discipline but we will always have messy tables.
A little mess is a sign of life, kids need interesting mothers after all.
